Nutrient Management Initiative (NMI)

The Nutrient Management Initiative is a program that allows producers to conduct on-farm nitrogen research. Producers are able to look at:

  • nitrogen rate trials
  • nitrogen timing trials
  • nitrogen stabilizer trials and
  • nitrogen source trials

The program does require that you work with an agronomist, but financial assistance is available to help cover additional costs.

Manure Management

Manure Management

Proper manure management is an important part of animal agriculture.

Manure can either be an asset or a liability, depending on how it is managed on your farm. We use the University of Minnesota Manure Management Recommendations when helping producers with their manure management.

The State of Minnesota manure management Statutes (Chapter 7020) can be found here.
