Blickenstaff Dairy Becomes Water Quality Certified
April 23, 2019 by MAWQCP
Bryce Blickenstaff’s farming operation is now Water Quality Certified! Bryce received his Water Quality Certified Farm sign on April 23, 2019.
Bryce’s farming operation is located north of New York Mills and involves corn, wheat, alfalfa, dairy cows, and turkey barns.
Bryce practices careful nutrient management, as he utilizes an NRCS-designed manure storage facility and applies manure on his crop fields based on his Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (C.N.M.P.). Bryce uses a combination of cover crops, conservation tillage, and alfalfa in his crop rotation to protect his fields from erosion and to improve soil health, and he participates in the East Otter Tail SWCD Irrigation Scheduling Program. Additionally, the majority of Bryce’s operation is now organic.
Congratulations to Bryce Blickenstaff for his farming operation achieving the status of a Water Quality Certified Farm!
